Doesn’t this just tug at your heart strings?
Nope.
If she had put that $100 million in a S&P 500 index fund, she’d be worth half a billion by now.
There’s a lesson here. If you win the lottery, stash a couple million in an account your financial manager doesn’t know about. Just in case. That way if he embezzles or screws up royally you can afford to have him whacked.
Did Barry Siegel have an extensive educational and/or professional background in handling large sums of money or claim that he did? If so, Presley might actually have a viable claim for financial malpractice. Siegel’s countersuit may be just a smokescreen designed to at least temporarily hide his acts of self-dealing and negligence.
Fourteen thousand dollars!
That’s a LOT of money!
It does, a bit. It’s never nice to find out that someone you trusted has fleeced you instead, or done you wrong in some other fashion.
She should have known about Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker who took 50% of Elvis’ earnings toward the end of his life and been extra cautious:
Hope she is still able to learn to work…because she has probably never done a real days work.
I’ll take the 14K and teach her to work!
This does make me sad for her, actually. Money is nice, but it’s the least of what you need from your parents. When you come from that kind of dysfunction, where all you can expect from them is money, it’s an excruciating existence made all the harder by the idiots who jealously deride your every move and discount your every sorrow. (Because, money.)
She’s been abused and/or abandoned by a father, a mother, three husbands and a lifelong trusted manager. Then to have even the money let you down?
That’s gotta suck.
And really, if you can’t feel sorry for her now that it’s gone, when will you? Does a sinkhole have to swallow the lady?
Hasn’t a large proportion of that money been used to prop up Scientology?
I suppose she didn’t deserve to get ripped off, but it’s not clear that’s what happened anyway, the guy she’s suing says she threw it all away herself and she owes him money. It’s hard to dredge up a lot of sympathy for someone who was given so much and then squandered it all. If she was robbed she’s due some sympathy, but if she pissed it all away then it’s just tough to be her.
Her mother is still worth 10’s of millions( if not hundreds, the internet spits out all sorts of numbers ). Her daughter Riley Keough, a moderately successful actress, is worth millions more( possibly 10’s of millions ).
Somebody will take care of poor Lisa Marie if she goes bankrupt - probably in a style far beyond what most of us are living.
I remember reading, years ago that Elvis was nearly bankrupt. He was packed for a grueling tour when he died.
Priscilla took charge of the estate, merchandising, and publishing rights. She had Graceland fixed up for paid tourist tours and merchandise sales.
Priscilla built up a sizeable fortune. It’s a shame to hear Lisa Marie has already blown through that money.
Priscilla is 72 and probably too old to step in again.
She is pretty stupid but her soon to be fourth ex husband (is Lisa Marie actually a Gabor?) is asking for spousal support. Someone needs to kick him in the butt and tell him to go out and get a J-O-B to support himself.
Oh, come on - don’t be cruel.
Perhaps she should ask her church for help.
She did get free of them a few years back. I’m sure plenty of her money ended up in their coffers. Since her mother brought her into the cult as a child I do have some sympathy for her in that respect.
