My name is Rasha. It’s an Arabic name that means “young gazelle.”
My parents claim that they named me after an Iranian princess whose picture was in the paper when she visited the United States in 1968. They lived in Tacoma, Washington at the time. I could fly to Washington and search rollfilm archives of old newspapers… but I want you to do my work for me instead.
Seriously, whatever information anyone can come up with would be coool.
I have done some Internet searching ( http://www.royalfamily.com/ for example) and can’t find a Princess Rasha. I’d love to find a short bio and especially a photo.
The closest I can find is from this royal family tree website ( http://www.crosswinds.net/~zzhsoszy/ ). A Rasha bint Hamud al-Sabah, royalty from Kuwait (not Iran) but not a princess (I don’t think):

Thanks, fellow Dopers!
Bumpin’, hopin’ for some action.
I found a picture of Princess Rasha. She’s beautiful! I wouldn’t mind travelling with her to far-off Iran.
Here’s a site that offered only that RasA means “expressive”, and the female Iranian name that means gazelle is Gazal, or GazAleh.
sorry, nothing about princesses yet…
Sorry Canthearya but I couldn’t find an Iranian Princess named Rasha looking in the Almanach De Bruxelles nor on the current Shah’s (HIM Reza Pahlavi II) official website.
the only Princess I could find was HIH Shahnaz (born 1940) or perhaps it was HIM Farah, the Shahbanou of Iran.
here’s a link to some pictures:

some hot Iranian Royalty at http://www.rezapahlavi.org/images
and of course the homepage for the site http://www.rezapahlavi.org/
It’s been a couple of years since I first brought this up; thought I’d bump it, in case someone knows something. Please see the OP.
