Anyone think this Simpsons episode, with such lines as

will ever be shown again?
I thought the same thing about The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson immediately after 9/11, since a majority of its action takes place at the WTC towers, and is not particularly sweet to them. But it’s been shown since.
I think we’ll see A Streetcar Named Marge again. Good thing, I think it’s a funny episode.
There was also the “Boy Band” episode that ends with the Mad Magazine building being blown up. They ran that right after 9/11 and still do.
They also ran the Krusty’s daughter episode that had the “Maybe it was the anthrax in the air…” line while the anthrax mail scare was going on.
So, don’t worry about it. It’ll play. (The Ayn Rand daycare is one of the funniest things ever. I love it when Maggie has an actual role.)
On a small hijack…any idea why Fox has been repeating the same 5 shows for the last month? Seems every other repeat is Band Camp.
On the OP…they will play it. Just not soon.

this episode is from season 4, so odds are it was never going to get played again anyway…maybe on a Sunday night…
In the following episode, the blackboard gag had Bart writing “I will not defame New Orleans” over and over. They’d apparantly gotten complaints.
In addition to Streetcar, let’s not overlook Chief Wiggum, P.I.
On the season 4 DVD commentaries, Matt G. talks about how they got ALOT of complaints, including one from the mayor.
FOX told them to run the “I will not defame New Orleans” chalkboard but I believe the producers wanted to do that anyway.
They replayed the episode where Seigfried (Roy?) was attacked by one of the tigers.
That was Gunther and Ernst (as in “The Flamboyant Magic of…”). The tiger (Anastasia) went to town on both of them and I completely lost it.
Krusty was also mauled by three tigers he’d tried to “tame.”
Small edits have occurred, though. The related show Futurama (set in New New York, A.D. 3000) had a throwaway bit in the pilot episode where a man gives his destination to a transport tube as “JFK junior Airport”. Minor chuckle, thinking junior would get his own airport, but it became a lot less funny when he later died in a plane crash. Subsequent broadcasts have the man’s destination as “Radio City Mutant Hall.” Redubbing a single unimportant line is no doubt easier than reworking scenes in an episode or yanking it from the circuit.
It probably will.
I do feel kinda bad though, because this week, when they started saying “Superdome” on the news all the time, I kept thinking of Wiggem singing “Long before the Superdome…”
Similarly, Homer stole an Oscar that belonged to Haing S. Ngor (Supporting Actor winner for The Killing Fields). After Dr. Ngor was murdered, subsequent reruns showed the Oscar for the following year’s Supporting Actor winner, Don Ameche, instead.
Not many Simpsons episodes have been censored, though a couple not yet mentioned leap to mind:

“Marge Gets a Job” – The subplot is Bart faking excuses to get out of a test, a la “the boy who cried wolf.” At one point Mrs. Krabappel says, “You’ve had smallpox, the bends, and that unfortunate bout of Tourette’s Syndrome.” Bart replies, "I don’t think I’m quite over it…bark bark…SHOVE IT WITCH!" Heh. Apparently the Tourette’s crowd complained loudly enough to get it changed to “rabies” in all subsequent airings, including the DVD. (Actually, I’ll bet a lot of Tourette’s Syndrome thought it was funny and called up Fox to congratulate them, but the Fox people only heard a bunch of incoherent cursing on the line…)

That Super Bowl episode from season 9 or 10, which showed a commercial of hot-looking babes pumping gas to the tune of ZZ Top’s “Legs”, with the voiceover: “The Catholic Church. We’ve made some…changes.” Needless to say, enough Catholics complained to make them change it to just “The Church”.

Not in the most recent airing I saw - FOX, weekday airing, about a week ago.
I just saw this one in syndication the other day and I waited for it and they still said “Catholic Church”.
Good for Fox, stick it to The Man! ™

Speaking of Simpsons changes: some more I can think of off the top of my head:
(Regarding the ones already mentioned: “The Catholic Church” was restored in syndication, as was “Tourette’s Syndrome.” The “rabies” line’s appearance on the DVD was apparently an error.)
-In the opening of one episode (I forget which), Homer is given a list of things to do by Marge, and he hasn’t done any of them. One of them is painting the garage door, which he started on a long time ago, and another is removing yellow ribbons from a tree. Homer comments that he shouldn’t, since there’s going to be more hostages eventually, anyway. This gag only appeared in the episode’s second airing on Fox- it was removed from the first airing since the United States was having a hostage crisis in Kosovo at the time, and was removed for time purposes in syndication.
-In another episode (again, I forget which), Bart comes down with some sort of disease. In a flashback, we see that it came from a monkey which was hiding in a basket Milhouse had at his house. Originally, Milhouse commented, “I got it at Pier One.” Apparently, Pier One complained, so the store’s name is replaced with the fictional “Trader Pete’s” in syndication.
-The episode where the family appears on the reality show The 1895 House opens with the Simpson household being fumigated for bugs. The man doing the fumigation says the poison is so strong, it has Lee Marvin’s picture on it. Originally, the line was supposed to be that it was so strong, James Coburn’s picture was on it, but Coburn had died before the episode aired. The Coburn line was used in the repeat airing, by which time both Marvin and Coburn had died.
-In the episode Viva Ned Flanders, Homer’s line “Barney’s birthday is April 20th- same as Hitler’s” was changed in reruns to “Barney’s birthday is July 15th- same as Lassie’s,” presumably due to the Columbine incident, which intentionally occured earlier that year on April 20, 1999- the date was chosen because it would have been Hitler’s birthday.
I could swear that the following episode had Marge come and say that she had prepared an apology to the city of New Orleans but that nobody complained.
They played “A Streetcar Named Marge” recently here, within the past week. I’m not sure if it was on local TV or satellite; we receive both through the dish. I only caught the credits, so I can’t tell you if anything was changed.
