And more broadly - There has been a right-wing bullshit propaganda message that has been loudly screaming in the West for decades. It has swamped anything the left could say or do to combat it. It’s basically an unstoppable (for now) machine.
For the Left to begin to reverse the damage, we need an equal and opposing propaganda force. The main difference is that we won’t be spouting bullhsit, but will instead be spouting the truth.
This is what is needed if we ever want to reverse the momentum. It won’t be easy. But it must be done.
We also need to acknowledge that it is happening to a much greater degree than any before here.
I watched for a decade while Putin propagandized the shit out of the citizens of this country through his troll farms on Facebook, WikiLeaks and elsewhere, together with Fox, OAN and NewsMax. It’s what elevated Trump and it’s what got him elected in 2016. Yet even today, people pooh-pooh the extent to which this massive, coordinated propaganda attack influenced the 2016 election. Even on this Board.
We have got to wake up to how we are being manipulated through these outlets, which have now only grown because they work so well and have gone basically unchallenged.
Now Trump 2.0 is actively rewriting history as fast as they can. This is also part of the effort. Because. It. Works.
Because they thought it was about getting the other brown people; many of them said as much. The leopards won’t eat their face, just the faces of the bad brown people.
And that’s not the only bigotry involved, it’s also about getting women, gays, the transgender and so on.
My prediction for healthcare is that it will pretty much all be dumped on employers to get the insurance and then also manipulate the Insurance Co to take care of their employees. It will cover you for maybe a half a year of care. After that they fire you. If it is your spouse that is sick, they will cover that as long as you are employable.
Outside of that, Medicaid will be gone and Medicare is probably reduced to drug insurance and emergency room. Beyond that Medicare will do very little. Hip replacement? No chance.
I recently joined this board, unaware that if was so leftist. I therefore am no longer interested. I am astounded how anyone could believe the nonsense on this thread.
I think we should distinguish between Trump’s rational and irrational ambitions and actions, which is different from realistic and unrealistic. The ambition to acquire Greenland is rational, but it’s not realistic, especially how Trump is going about it.
So much of what Trump does is crazy that it’s easy to start swinging away without bothering to make such a distinction. I should have prefaced my comment with something like the above…
