A very Catalonian Christmas?

Christmas is coming up and soon there will be nativity scenes set up all across the world. The best of these may be found in the Catalonian region–these incorporate a Caganer. People love their Caganers. Playing Find the Caganer seems to be popular with children.

A Caganer is a nativity figure of a guy making poopy, taking a dump, dropping a log.

Speaking of Catalonian logs, I have heard lately of something called a “poop log” which also seems to be a big hit at Christmas…

Has Cecil (or anyone else here) ever covered the Caganer? The Poop Log? How on earth did these things become traditions, anyway?

Tis the season.

Ah, nevermind… forgot that the Search Function functions now.

And what nativity scene is complete without a pooping Obama?

Since this is not a comment on one of Cecil’s columns, I’ll move this thread to the MPSIMS forum.

P.S.:
Check out what Wikipedia has to say about caganers and the poop log. Fascinating stuff.

These people must be the most openly shit-centered culture on earth. (Shit looms large in the German psyche, as well, but they are at least less public about it.)

Thanks, 'phage.

I think I finally understand what a yule log is. Thanks.
