Hopefully downtown. Way downtown. I have seven months left on my lease. With the rate that rents and co-op prices are falling coupled with a residential exodus around Battery Park City, I’d love to pick up a place down there in May.
I just got back from hanging out with the NY Dopers (love you guys!) and pumping more money into the city’s economy. I think I’ve exhausted my eating-out budget for the next two weeks. Yikes.
Miss Creant, you never fail to crack me up. I love that about you.
jadailey - When you say “working on” that building, do you mean doing structural or clean up stuff? That must be really freaky.
DarkWriter - I agree with you that it’s not strange to mourn the buildings. I really miss going there. It was so cool to work in the WTC. I was on the 64th floor, and my boss had a window office that looked out at midtown. It was fabulous. The cafeteria was on the 44th floor, and had views of the Statue of Liberty. It was a great place to work.
Maeglin - If the neighborhood bounces back, I bet it would be a great place to live. Good luck to you!
Hi vixie, glad to hear you’ve been back downtown. Sorry to have missed the dope-dinner.
Missing you and the rest of the NY Dopers on the trip.
Bill
Bill! The dinner crew missed you, too, especially while we were plotting and planning for the January Dopefest.
I hope you’re having a super time sailing.
I fear what you may be plotting!
I am, indeed, having a super time. Check this thread for the latest installment of my journal.
Say hi to the gang for me.
No, we don’t actually have people set up to actually WORK in the building, though I understand that 1 Liberty is due to open Monday (!)
We’re a good year, if not more, from permanently reoccupying any space, including that which was undamaged after the attacks.
But my boss’s responsibility, along with my New York-based coworkers, is doing everything that is necessary to a) keep further damage from being done to our building and b) getting it back up and running as quickly as possible. We have phones (intermittently, it’s true) and electricity. MY responsibility is to communicate with the displaced employees about their new workspaces, how to get to and fro, etc.
well, Vix, if I should win the AA tickets from my fundraiser this summer, I will be in NY to crack you up in person come January!!! You always laugh at my jokes.
I love THAT about you! You’re my best audience!
Plus, you’re fun.
