A way around the 22nd Amendment?

Perhaps covered in another thread already.

The 22nd Amendment says “No person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice…” [emphasis mine]

What if someone else ran for President and won, and a 2-termer ran as that person’s Vice President, then once elected the President resigns? The language of the Amendment does not seem to preclude the 2-termer to then assume the Presidency. Or?

We have done this about 25 times in the last 6 months. You might try searching for “22nd”

Or search for the 12th Amendment of the Constitution.

But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

There is talk of a new amendment limiting the president to three non-consecutive terms. I don’t see it getting anywhere in time to help His Orangeness.

Yeah, I tried that and other permutations. All returned a lot of posts that I variably slogged through, but none got to that question. Thanks for your totally voluntary response. Sorry to bother you.

I saw on my newsfeed (but didn’t click through) that they’ve put some language in the amendment that if it passed would somehow prevent Obama from serving a third term.

Done recently. Please try searching.
