Zsofia, think of what they wanted… in a mirror.
I’m stumpped at the pump. hints anybody? please? pretty please?
Please spoiler any pump hints. I’m going to get this one by god…

Son of a… It’s like playing The Stone all over again. I thought I’d dropped that like a bad habit. Specifically a habit of staying up all night with a search engine and a notepad. Guess not!
I’m falling apart here. I’m just look ing for a decent hint. There is a good chance I may cry.
And as long as the ‘Wolves of Calla’ thread is kinda gone, could someone here tell me what a ‘sneetch’ was in the Harry Potter books. It was the only referance I wasn’t farmiliar with in DT5, and none of my friends have read the books or seen the flicks. Not trying to hijak…
Book 3, part 6, chapter 3.
Little hint on priming the pump maybe?
I’ve done that, and nothing happened. And what about Avalonians hint about the random numbers being ledgible?
Not sure about that block of numbers with the + in front of it yet. I misclicked on one in the diamond and am stuck trying to figure out how to unselect it.
Priming the pump backwards doesn’t seem to work (if it does, it certainly doesn’t let you know), and neither does priming it forward, or ‘scratching’ off all but the primes. Im stumped. Plus, nowhere on the site does it suggest you ‘prime’ the pump per se anyway.
And one more question: are these just puzzles for the sake of puzzles, or will this lead to something? I had never heard of the Cloudmakers before this thread, and I don’t think I got the full gist of what they were about from thier site. Could anyone here who knows a bit more about them fill me in?
Oh my goodness, am I ever STUPID! I thought right past it and miles, miles, and miles onto the other side.
Still working on the next bit, though.
OK, the solution to the “random” number string centers around the number 19… what else?
Spoiler:
Remove the first “19”. Add 19 to each 2 digit digit numbers that follows except “100”. Ex… 93 + 19 = 112 and so on. Finally do a ASCII conversion.
Gives:
“prime this pump backwards all save nine”
I wish I could take credit for this one… but a friend of mine figured out the ASCII conversion.
I’m still on the tower. Something in a mirror doesn’t tell me what number they want. But it looks like I’ll never get it until I read all these dang books anyway, so there goes my part. Sigh.
Argh! This is really getting infuriating! Maybe I’m just not designed for this sort of puzzle. With regards to what Avalonian spoilered above:
Okay, fine. Prime this pump backwards all save nine. So I tried the primes in the number string backwards (with and without 1, unsure of if they counted it or not - it was in the book but on none of the prime number sites I found) without the last nine, and I tried it without the first nine. I tried the primes under 100, as in the book, backwards without the first nine, or without the last nine. I tried it with spaces between numbers and without. I’ve sat here for hours now fucking around with prime numbers and it dosen’t like any of it! I even tried it just with the prime numbers under 100 and taking out the number 9 where it appeared, but nothing! Am I stupid, can I not type, did I miss something about prime numbers, did I almost throw a very expensive laptop out the window?
And the answer is… nobody knows but those who made it.
Cloudmakers were a group who came together, mostly by chance, to solve the web mystery posted as a promotion for the movie A.I. in the summer of 2001. Solving the puzzles enabled us to get deeper into the story, which grew in depth and complexity as we went.
I don’t know if this is going to be something like that or not. Speculation is that the DT game is fan-based, while the A.I. game was definitely professionally-produced. However, there have been a couple fan-based games that were quite good.
Right now, I’m at a bit of a dead end. Either we’re waiting for an update, or there’s something else I haven’t figured out yet.
BrandyFine, it’s something very simple, and it’s something you’ve already done. Sort of.
Okay, somebody help me out here. I still can’t get logged in. Every single ##%@@# time, it gives me the same @@#%@# message, that I’ve got the incorrect name or password. I’m matching what everyone else is using exactly, but it won’t let me in, no matter what browser I use. What’s the %@#@#@ deal, anyway?
Ooooh, never mind, didn’t think to mouse-hunt again!
Well, I’m at the
pump, but I can’t get it. I try ‘priming’ backwards leaving out the first nine, the last nine, any number with a 9 in it, and nothing I can think of works.
And I’m damn sick of having to close and restart my browser every time I mess up! Stupid php!
Try this:
Hit every prime, backwards, except those with 9s in them. Include 1. Just like the pump puzzle in The Waste Lands, but without the 9s. You’ll know when you get it. If you have to do it over, close out and clear your cache to get rid of the “pressed numbers”.
Now I’m definately stuck with where that takes you, though.
