Other than that, I got nothing. Las Vegas is for drinking, gambling and titty bars. After 24 hours there, I want to leave before I die of the excess.
Also, get a pile of 20s and fold them backward at the middle and then forward again at the quarters. That leaves the biggest “20” visible on both sides. Palm one to everyone from the valet to the guy seating you at the newest Cirque show. You can get anything in Vegas if you pay accordingly. You want better seats or a BJ? Do the same thing with 100s.
I went to Vegas for a night and morning about 3 weeks ago with my 21 month old in her stroller and my sister and husband. We wanted to eat at Wynns buffet and stayed the night at another hotel off the strip. Let’s just say I might go again when my baby can gamble. It was okay and I liked the people watching. We were in front of Paris Hilton at the Wynn. Actally we were cock blocking her as she was behind us and the stroller walking through the hotel then she ducked into a club. So I didn’t get stopped from walking through Wynn which I think is upscale but if I wasn’t pushing a stroller I would feel weird dragging a kid through the casino walking. If you can afford it go see O. And your teen daughter might like the shopping.
It is always a pleasure to see, despite how different you and I are in so many respects, how similar our approaches to childrearing often are and how good the results. Just kinda brightened my morning.
Vegas in July with kids… wow - that’s tough. I would try to get out of Vegas. Bryce canyon is an easy day’s drive north, go up via the highway though Cedar Breaks since at 10,000 feet it will be cool. The Grand canyon is also possible, but Bryce is a bit easier to appreciate than the Grand Canyon.
Hoover dam gives a nice tour and is 45 minutes from the strip. You could even drive to Flagstaff (high elevation, cool) along old route 66.
I just finished watching “Pawn Stars”. I love that show – I’d LOVE to visit their shop.
There are actually two different “Bodies” exhibits. Body Worlds is the one with the woman cut open to show the fetus. Bodies, the Exhibition, is the one we had at the Science Center when I was still working there. (My GOD, what a nightmare that was. Not the exhibit itself, but working while it was there – we all breathed a sigh of relief when it was gone!) Also, keep in mind that the fetal development room is separate, so you can skip it if you wish. Actually, the worst part was the two stillbirths shown.
It might be a little creepy for kids – it’s not QUITE as graphic as BWs is supposed to be, but you know your kids better than the rest of us do. If they like gory stuff, they might enjoy the end where you get to hold human organs (like a preserved brain, heart, etc)
(The best part of working it though were the comment cards – all of the high school kids used to comment on the genitalia. We had to go through the comment book and post-it board after every field trip)
Heads up – you will NOT be allowed to bring a camera in, so don’t plan on it. As in, if you had a camera on you to take pictures of the rest of the museum, they had to leave it in a locker. The rules were STRICT.
