I’d be surprised if your neighborhood doesn’t have a FB community group or a NextDoor group. This is exactly the sort of thing that would get said group chattering away.
Yeah, Nextdoor was my thought too, but I dropped out of that several years ago due to rampant unpoliced political garbage. I’ll check for a FB group.
Maybe trying to locate somebody on behalf of an abusive partner they’re trying to hide from?
In which case the dead body might be intended to be in the future.
Well, I checked FB and didn’t find anything, but I was able to log into Nextdoor (under a fake identity), and apparently this is legitimate, a 15-year-old runaway from the East Bay. They had a picture of the same flyer that had been posted on a telephone pole, and the location where she was found was, in fact, the corner that is around the bend in our street and down the long block. Apparently no foul play is suspected. So I guess I don’t need to go bother the police with this.
I should have thought of this first, but Nextdoor is very far away from top of my mind. That’s my excuse. Sorry, and never mind.
I guess this is the case?
The report says that police are saying there are no signs of foul play but the investigation is open and they are waiting for autopsy results.
Yes, that’s it. It looks like that was posted after I checked on Tuesday. It sounds like the body was found on Sunday. It’s a very sad story all around.
Relieved to hear it wasn’t a scam, but definitely a sad story all around.
I’m guessing that the police are NOT wont to go door-to-door in this case, or the family hasn’t seen them make the effort so they’re just doing it themselves. Or the police did go door to door, when you weren’t home, and nothing came of that initial canvass so the family is trying to go through again to catch a different group of people at home.
Huh. I dropped out of Facebook due to rampant unpoliced political garbage. My local Nextdoor rarely gets more political than “I can’t believe they want to open a weed dispensary near XYZ.”, or “We should have public regulations against gas-powered leaf blowers.”
Oh wow, that is a sad story.
On FB I can block or unfollow individual people who post that way, and have done so (a cousin, for one). I don’t remember if that’s possible on Nextdoor (checked, it is) but there were just too many of them, for too little other value in the app.
Yeah, I think it was exactly as portrayed.
Our local FB group has a strict “No politics” policy. You can report them to the mods and they take them down.
Oddly the Local Sheriff’s announcement group is unmoderated and contains tons of scam and garbage political posts- is that Ironic?
@Roderick_Femm did you call SFPD yet, and what did they say? I’m with those who think this is a good idea. Can’t hurt, and it can help their DB for any such anomalous visits.
Umm, it has been solved, upthread- post 24.
And the SFPD would have a horselaugh.
Probably not.
Okay, I’m glad @Roderick_Femm does not really have anything major to worry about.
