I seem to recall that the whole “why” of the gastropod thing that kicked it all off had yet to be fully resolved, but it’s been years since I read them. I just remember that there were to my mind some big questions that had yet to be answered.
JOhn.

That’s exactly right. Who is the Far Being and why is is interested in this earth lad? What did happen with the gastropod? What’s a Flinger to do? I’m really flummoxed because he told me that fifth book is written (has been for over a decade) and goes unpublished. GRR

Nope, he’s dead. Dead dead. All the way dead. Not coming back. No do-overs. Itty-bitty pieces of Karl are all over the beach at Melawei. The Warrior does not live.

I know that and you know that, but the slavers guild sure as hell doesn’t know that
And just WHEN Douglas Adams gonna come out with a 6th book in the HHGTG increasingly inaccurate “trilogy”? Oh sure, some people say he died, but it probably just for tax reasons!
I’ll second the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. The series started off with a bang and has hit a few creative speedbumps along the way. but I wish she’d finish it just so I can know how Jamie and Claire’s story ends.
I used to care about the Earth children series, but no longer care if Ayla or her bowling ball head son live or die.

Never mind HHGTTG, I just want him (or his ghost) to complete “Salmon of Doubt” It was shaping up just nicely when Mr. Adams so rudely shuffled off his mortal coil.

Lawrence Watt-Evans is the same. I wish his Ethshar stuff sold better so he could keep writing it.

From what I hear, so does Lawrence Watt-Evans. To an extent where he is actually writing new Ethshar books and posting them online – see here for the latest one.

I’d also like to see Neil Gaiman finish his run on Miracleman.

Oh, God, yes. I’d love to read the rest of The Silver Age and all of The Dark Age.
Man, I need to get around and check author websites more. I never heard about what LWE was doing with the Ethshar stuff. I would have been on that when it started.
At one point, Patricia Kennealy-Morrison (The Keltiad) was going to write a trilogy about Gwydion, as a sequel to her trilogy about Aeron. Still waiting. Of course, she was also supposed to write a trilogy about Brendan, but the three proposed titles would up being one book instead of three.
