Abandoned cat right outside

First off, I love cats. Had em all my life. Cats are cool.

I live in an apt and the chick upstairs has two cats. She lets them outside now and then.

One of her cats has been meowing for two days, hanging around like mama is gone. Hasn’t been let in (nighttime). This hasn’t happened in two years, since she left them out all night for days and they whined in front of my window and kept me up from midnite till 6am. A talk with her cured that.

This time tho, it’s different. It seems like she (owner) is either dead, gone, or just blew off this kitty. I can’t get the cat to come to me, or I would keep the cat till she got back.

Don’t know what to do, as the cat thinks because I am one floor below, I must be in her apt, and whines under my window all night. Mgmt is gone till monday and I am going nuts.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you put out food and water for the cat? Get it to see you doing it so it knows you are a good guy? This might help it stop crying for a while. Depending on how the weather is, and whether or not there is shelter around, can you put out a blanket, or box, or a cushion for it to lay down on? Some shelters rent animal traps as well.

Those are good suggestions. I would try to bring the cat in and keep it safe. Is the neighbor hot?

Have you tried calling the police? Your neighbour may have had an accident and need help.
