I watched CBS Prime Time’s program on Six Degrees of Separation tonight. I decided to go to the Columbia site and try the experiment myself. The person I was given to contact lives in Lima Peru and went to high school in Arequipa, Peru. By a strange co-incidence I was just in Arequipa last month. Also, my best friend was an exchange student in Lima and is in contact with his “brother” there. I didn’t feel like bothering my business contacts in Arequipa so I started the chain by sending email to my friend. It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.
I landed in Arequipa several times. Do I win?
Since the link in the OP doesn’t seem to work, I’m guessing this is the proper link: Columbia Small World Project
Hey, I just signed up and also got a target in Peru. That’s kind of weird. I’ve never been there or known anyone with a Peruvian connection. I did have a good friend who lived in Santiago, Chile for several years; at least that’s the right continent. But she passed away very recently. So I settled for another friend who is a priest who has a lot of contacts in the Anglican church in South America. Mostly Ecuador, but at least it’s getting closer.
This is fun; I hope I find out how my chain goes along.
Is it Gian Carlo Delgado?
It is! I guess it really is a small world!
So they get this one guy and see how many people can link to him? :dubious:
If we both make a connection to him, I guess that makes us connected to each other.
