Can I ask where exactly you found that? I’m doing some genealogy and have discovered I have been spelling my great-grandfather’s name wrong - wondering if I can find out the right spelling and any other info here.
Ancestry.com has all of the existing U.S. censuses online, from 1790 to 1930, for its subscribers. Many public libraries have subscriptions. All-name indexes are available for 1850-1930, and surname searches can be “sounds-like” through the Soundex indexing system.
If your great-grandfather was born Sept. 1872-Sept. 1900, and was living in the U.S. in 1917-1918, Ancestry.com should have his World War I draft registration (unless he already volunteered for service), including his actual signature on the reg. card.
