AbioCor, the Jarvik 7, and...any others?

Pardon my posting, but I was wondering…as the post title says, were there any other models of artificial hearts tested in humans besides the old Jarvik 7 and the new AbioCor hearts? I seem to remember hearing about a couple over te years, but I could very easily be wrong.

Well, thanks for your time,
Ranchoth

That’s what I’ll be saying once a real MD surgeon/research scientist shows up.

(I was reluctant to even use that quote because of the ‘fake.html’ file name. Yet the page seems legit - at least as much as snopes.com would be)
(Also I love the beating heart GIF at the bottom of afore-mentioned page, and the inviting Back to Invasive Procedures link)

This is from HowStuffWorks.com and is mostly about the AbioCor

So clearly, the move has steered back to ‘quasi-temporary’ hearts that buy time till a replacement donated heart can be attained.

I could not find much more information. My WAG is that current artificial heart research is a) lucrative and thus b) secretive and likely c) controversial (PETA comes to mind)

My bet is that the fake.html referred to “fake hearts”.
