Abnormal Water Bill?

Abnormal Water Bill?
Read first then watch video.

Jennifer and Jim kept getting huge water bills. They knew beyond a doubt that the bills weren't representative of their actual usage, and no matter how they tried to conserve, the high bills continued.

Although they could see nothing wrong, they had everything checked for leaks or problem s: first the water meter, then outdoor pipes, indoor pipes, underground pipes, faucets, toilets, washer, ice maker, etc. -- all to no avail. One day Jim was sick and stayed home in bed, but kept hearing water running downstairs.

He finally tore himself from his sick bed to investigate, and stumbled onto the cause of such high water bills.

Apparently this was happening all day long when they were not at home.

Knowing that few would believe him, he taped a segment of the 'problem' for posterity -- see attached video . It is the same thing over and over if you don't want to watch the whole 3 minutes.

Now go to: The Cause of Abnormal Water Bills

Well, I think they should take the cat’s allowance away for 6 months so the cat can contribute to the water bill!

Seriously, though, how would you deal with a problem like that, aside from just getting rid of the cat? I suppose you could turn off the water to the toilet every morning before you left for work. . .

Hm, close the bathroom door?

We have two dogs who like to eat dirty laundry. So until we can get around to relocating the laundry area in the bathroom, we close the (bifold) door and block it with a chair to reduce the chance of finding half-eaten undies.

Close the bathroom door or install a ‘Gizmo Guard’, kind of like a ‘Molly Guard’ for toilets.

What’s a “Molly Guard”?

Oh well, at least he didn’t fall in.

I’m always suspicious that the back stories on things like this are made up, but I must admit, that video cracked me up.

I’m just glad my cat is too dumb to figure stuff like this out!

Molly Guard.

Apparently Molly is all growed up now and no longer pushing BRBs.

I had a cat that delighted in flushing the toilet. For a long time, I couldn’t figure out why the toilet seemed to be flushing itself. I finally caught her at it.

She didn’t do it to watch the water go down, though, since the lid was always closed. She would go into the bathroom, reach up and flush, and then run like hell. If she thought I wasn’t paying enough attention to her, she would flush repeatedly.

Our newest kitten, Gatsby, is polydactyl. He’s got thumbs!

He turns on faucets but the toilet scares him. And now he’s learned how to reach up and turn doorknobs! At 5 months! It’s looking like we’re going to have to padlock the fridge in the near future.

See, I freakin’ knew the cats would take over if they had thumbs! You’ve just proved it, DeVena!
