About Adolph Hitler

This might be more GQ than GD, but here goes:

Hitler was elected to his position of power; however, at some point he became a dictator with “rule by decree” power.

How quickly did this transition happen?

I can’t imagine that he was elected, then immediately decided, “OK, I make the rules.”

Hitler was not elected to power. He lost the presidential election to Hindenburg, but was then appointed chancellor–and later scured absolute power–amid a great deal of dealmaking and backstabbing.

For a concise account, look here: historyplace.com/worldwar2/riseofhitler/index.htm

Hitler was named Chancellor in January, 1933. The Reichstag fire was in February, and by the end of March, he had been granted emergency powers.

When Hindenberg died in August 1934, Hitler had himself officially named Fuhrer, but for all intents and purposes he had grabbed all the power he needed two months after he took office.

I understand all the words, they just don’t make sense together like that.

Dammit! I knew I’d mess that up. www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/riseofhitler/index.htm

When I clicked on “About Adolf Hitler,” all I got was a dialog box that said:

Thank you, tip your servers.

The last time I tipped my server, its hard drive crashed.

Don’t tip your servers, it upsets them.

“Adolf Hitler, version 1.0”

And may there never be a version 2.0!

There already is a version 2.0; didn’t anyone see “The Boys From Brazil”? Or at least “They Saved Hitler’s Brain”?

“Boys from Brazil.” That’s a damn good flick. I loved the part at the end, where the kid’s looking at the pictures he’s developed in the darkroom, pictures of those two old fogies duking it out, blood and bruises and dog bites everywhere, and he’s looking at the photos, and his eyes go so wide, and he says:
“Cool!”

or Pat Buchanan? <Ba-dum-bum>

Thank you folks, I’m here all week.
