About Hope

At each ringing phone or knock at my door
I felt hope rising, my heart skipping a beat
But later, the saddest loss
That of the skip in the beat of my heart
The realization that now there is none

May hope soon return to friends and families of those who are gone.

While I don’t have real friends lost there, I did have people I’d talked to in business that are now missing.

Every time I see the new list of names I look for changes of their status. It never happens, and I’m no longer sure I want to know for sure. But I know the feeling your poem is about.
