I understood the Vulcans were supposed to be GREEN. This would be in keeping with the copper-based hemoglobin. It just didn’t come out very well on TV since it was more understated. Also would’ve fit well in the episode (“Tomorrow is Yesterday”?) where they picked up the USAF pilot, who, on entering the bridge said “I never did believe in little green men.” and turned to see Spock say “Neither have I.” I also had a puzzle when I was little of the Enterprise, with Kirk, Spock, Mc Coy and Scotty in the corners - and Spock WAS green.

And I would gladly lick the green dye off the slave girl.
