Above sliding window plastic bumper

What is this security device called? It’s a plastic piece adhering to the non sliding part of a window designed to prevent the window from being opened. Also, just how much security does this plastic piece provide?

It it clear tape applied to stop noise of the wind rattling the screen ?

Or to hold the screen in place, so it doesn’t just fall out.

The insect screen is not for security.

“The tape keeps the screen secure” typically would mean
“The tape keeps the screen from falling” … Secure doesn’t mean “For security”.

Is it this? If it’s solid plastic, most likely it’s a child safety lock, not an anti-theft device.

I believe there are glue on window anti-theft devices, but they’re metal and likely have strong enough glue to hold fast until the window itself breaks.

I agree, it’s a child-safety device. A solid shove will detach it if someone was trying to break in.
