Absinth-legal in the states or not?

I just recently ordered absinth from

and was just wondering why all the manufacturers are in Czech and countries of the sort. Is it illegal to make in the U.S.? Is it illegal to have possession of this divine liquer?

Also, since it has a mild hallucinogenic effect similar to THC(which I stll have issues with that. THC is not a hallucinogen!!! I’ve done plenty of hallucinogens and I have never “seen” little green men after smoking a joint but this is getting away from my directive) would it affect the outcomes of a Urinary Analysis or for the more frank “piss test”?

I’m currently on probation and would not like to fail my piss test I take every week because I was drinking this esquisite liquer.

Anyone else drink absinth? Feel free to elaborate and share your tales and comments as well.

Never drank it…but, I read an artical about it in Maxim…Stuffs made from some poison called wormwood right? Also saw it used in the movie “Fom Hell”

I was looking around and didn’t feel like getting in a heated discussion so I figured I 'd make my first post my own thread.

Seems Absinthe was the stuff Van Gogh was on when he cut off his ear. See the movie Deciever, with Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Michael Rooker and Renee Zellweger, easily one of the best “sleepers” I’ve ever seen.

The US seems to have rather conflicting laws regarding possesion, sales and distribution of contraband. I believe that all three are illegal in the states. The description of absinthe that I’ve heard describes it as a narcotic liquer (sp?), narcotics are “controlled” in the US, so it might be a bit of a gamble.

I have removed your link. The business in question purports to ship thujone-containing absinthe to the U.S… Thujone is illegal in the U.S. and we do not permit any post that facilitates the breaking of the law.

We generally permit questions about the law and physiological effects of drugs. The question of the law has already been answered. But your question about urinalysis seems designed to allow you to break the law (by consuming thujone) without getting caught, so I’ll close this thread.
