I am in the market for a bottle of Absinth for a gift. However, a friend of mine said that Absinth from the Czech Republic isn’t subject to health restrictions of Canada and America; and therefore better/purer.
Does anybody know if this is true? And if so, does anybody have any suggestions on how one could import a bottle from Europe without excessive expense?
As far as I know, absinthe is illegal in the states. So if Czech absinthe is legal, it would seem to me that would me that it’s not the real stuff.

Absinth is legal in Canada, where I am asking my question from.
I think what was meant is that the stuff we can get has all of the dangerous impurities removed - it is sanitized, so to speak. If you can get your hands on the REAL absinthe, you’d experience the better, as well as risk the worse, effects of it.
