ACA (Obama Care) is great, but it is time to fix it

And each one of them was correct. Premiums did go down for most Americans who had health insurance. In addition to that, tens of millions of people were able to afford it for the first time. Sure, some people didn’t get to keep their (bad) insurance plans, but that was by design. The ACA eliminated fake insurance that people were paying for but had loopholes and fine prints that didn’t cover you for what you thought it did. Many people don’t or can’t wade through the legalese that is your insurance plan and had to find out at the last minute when they got sick that their insurance didn’t cover them. The ACA rightly eliminated those, but humans are creatures of habit, they only saw that their plans were canceled and wanted someone to blame. Obama could have explained that better, but I’m still happy that people are finally getting what they paid for due to the law. Its a good one, it helps millions of people every day, and it should never be repealed except for an all-encompassing single-payer government health plan to cover everyone

Yes, single payer would do away with many of them and reduce others by bargaining (being the biggest game in town) volume. Organizing Drs around clinics and hospitals rather than as independent contractors would reduce not only book keeping costs but liability insurance, something like Kaiser here on the west coast. Efficiency- every Dr in the system can see your entire medical record.
One of the most important changes would be that employers would no longer have to bear the burden of health insurance costs thus driving up costs to the consumer and making them less competitive globally. Something around $1500 -2000 of the price of a new car is because of health insurance. The individual would actually see the true cost of health care on his tax return rather than be hidden from him which should create a pressure on high costs through political action. The various European systems should be studied and aspects of some adapted as seem applicable to our peculiar circumstances. It is a vastly complex subject.

Do you have a cite for this claim? On it’s face it doesn’t make sense. More got more coverage and paid less?
