Accessing Top Toolbar in Mac OSX

I realize this should be blindingly obvious, but I can’t for the life of me figure out the keyboard shortcut to access the top toolbar (e.g. File, Edit, View, etc.). In Windows, I think it’s just alt, or maybe alt-F. What is it in Mac OSX?

As a side note, the reason I need to figure this out is that my wireless mouse is being a bit touchy. I’ve never used bluetooth technology before. Could it be getting interference or something?

Ctrl-F2. You might have to push “fn”, depending on how you have your keyboard setup.

That will activate the menu bar, and you can then use the arrow keys to go through things.

Most commonly-used things have keyboard shortcuts already, and if they don’t you can set up additional ones through the Keyboard and Mouse preferences pane, under “Keyboard Shortcuts”. Scroll down to the bottom, and you can add your own.

Beautiful. Thanks.

BTW, that is the “Menu Bar.”
Toolbars are application-specific.
