Don’t get me wrong. I like the Beatles.
Really.
But how much more Fab Four dreck can they possibly hawk?
Obla-di obla-da life goes on…

“As much as the Beatles fans will buy–maybe a little more,” says the redhead who encouraged her SO to just go ahead and get it.
“It” being the new Anthology, of course. Didn’t want to confuse and/or excite Chief by leaving them ambiguous. [evil smilies omitted]
And he did. It shipped this morning, 3-7 business days. Woohoo! It shall be placed in an honored position next to the Lewisohn “Studio Sessions” book.

Given that this is the most definitive history of the Beatles, chronicled comprehensively by the Fab Four, with hundreds of previously unpublished photos, I’d say most everything leading up to this was dreck, but this is the real deal.
Wooohoooo!!!
I’m so excited. I have been waiting for this for years! They promised a book when they released the first Anthology album. How long was that? 4 or 5 years ago?
If Jesus Christ came down from the heavens and had a news conference saying, “Here’s a new Bible, personally endorsed by me,” do you think Christians would line up for it?
Hell yeah, they would.
Count me in as a Beatle Fanatic. I don’t think there’s a book about them I haven’t read. I’ll read this one too.

I’m getting my copy this weekend. It’ll go great next to my copies of Bruce Spizer’s guides to their VeeJay & Capitol recordings!
I’ve gotten thru 100 pages. The little autobiographies in the front were easy to read, and do sound more authentic in the first person.
Later, they talk about their instruments with quite a lot of detail.
Touring in a small van, some amusing incidents are told. Paul and George wanted to drive. One had the keys, and the other the keys. So they just sat there for quite a while.
I don’t plan to buy other Beatle books. Unless one has more on the Hamburg days. Paul comments on Backbeat, the movie. I’d like to see apicture of Bruno Koschmider, club owner and former circus performer…
At 7 pounds, you can’t read it in bed.
I bought the book, but so far I have been too busy to read it, just look at the pictures. And there are a lot of good pictures. I love it.

I had some $15 coupon thingie online, and I found it half-off (yes, half-off!) at buy.com, so all said and done, I had it for $25 or so.
I’m still reading the autobiographies in the beginning, though.
Sorry, pldennison, but the complete Beatles scores book I was admiring last night is much cooler. It’s about the music, not the people.
Sorry, one had the keys and the other occupied the driver’s seat…neither would give up…

Hey, “The Love You Make” by Peter Brown is an outstanding account of the Fab Four…you take that back.
I second MonkeyLucifer.
…although I suppose it was some type of quasi-sweeping generalization. Sorry.

There’s also an interesting interview with Phil Spector (where we learn, among other things, that the album Imagine was done in seven days) and a good piece by David Fricke on Lennon’s “legacy”
