If you get a chance, watch the excellent “Imagine - The Story of the Guitar” from the BBC a few months ago. There’s a cool segment on Wayne Henderson and his shop.
I don’t have the book (cited it to avoid any confusion with any other guitar that Clapton might have). I do know that Wayne Henderson plays pretty well also. The occasional mandolin that he makes are as highly regarded as his guitars. I’ve talked to him briefly at a festival years ago and he was friendly and not impatient with what I’m sure were trivial questions.

I know this is an old thread, but just thought I’d mention that the guitar I had tried was most likely this one. Clear as a bell, amazing sound!

Oh yeah - Elderly is great! But you can surf acoustic guitar porn from sellers all over the web. Get a copy of Vintage Guitar Magazine, which is basically a monthly vintage guitar Yellow Pages, and seek out the acoustic sellers there…there are a ton of modern boutique luthiers who advertise in it, too…
