Acquistion of a book...

I ama college student who is very interested in learning about religions (especially ancient ones and the such)…

A discussion between me and some fellow friends at the local pub brought up the Roman Rituals. Where could I obtain a copy of such text? Specifically, I am looking for the sections pertaining to excorcism. I’m not really looking for the stories on it, or the propaganda, but the facts on what was spoken when excorsims are performed. I also would love it if anyone could help me find more info on such topics…

If this should be moved, please, move it! heh

Which edition do you want? If you want the current edition of the Rituale Romanum (the Roman Ritual) then you should be able to get a copy quite easily from your local Catholic bookshop/publisher.

If you’re looking for older editions, then you’ll need to start searching the shelves of second hand bookshops or specialist religious/liturgical booksellers. Another possibility may be the libraries of any Catholic universities or seminaries in your area.

And by the way, if you’re searching online, it’s spelt exorcism.

The Roman Catholic published a revised rite of exorcism in 1999. As CNN reported,

I guess I should have used spell check, huh? (this actually started another discussion about the proper spelling of words…)
I found a newer version in a bookstore before but I think the second hand bookstore is going to be the place to look. I’ve checked antique shops in my area, one specifically carries over 1000 books at a time (so it seems to be a good place to start, but it wasn’t) They were kind of amazed that anyone would want to read such a book, not sure why, but it was kind of an awkward moment.

Anyways, off to the bookstores I will have to go…
