Acting sergeants

Are these advanced corporals, or non-coms on stage, or what?
Just trying to avoid a breach in the space-time continuum.

I was always amused by Phil Silvers as Sgt. Bilko, but I was partial to his grifter/ schemer character. Steve Martin’s version, not so much.
But John Wayne always epitomized the crusty sergeant to me, in American films at least.

I would assume they would be a brevet basically waiting for the paperwork to catch up to the actual need in the field; especially pre-internet when communication in Uncle Sugars Mean Green Machine was usually reliably slow.

That, and thanks for all the fish.

My favorite acting Sargent was Dick.

I’d just like to give a shout out to Sgt. Slaughter.

I just want to point out that Acting Sergeants would be a great name for a time traveling rock band.

No, no, no. The acting Sergeant is R. Lee Ermey.

We could make it a movie, but people here have No Time For Sergeants.

My favourite acting Dick was York.

Well, my favorite acting York was Michael.

Just to complete the cycle, my favorite acting sergeant was Gary Cooper.

They’re all just achtung.

I always liked Sgt. Carter. Vince, not Andrew.

Sgt. Schultz: "I see notheeeeng!"

Sgt Hatred is my guy.
