Apollo has sailed off into the void. He fought a long fight to continue or reboot Battlestar Galactica, and then was big enough to take a minor role in a version he didn’t care for. (And did a good job of it, as the boss of the prison ship and contender for leader of the fleet.)
Report in to Commander Adama, Captain Apollo, and stand by for further orders…
My first thought was of *Battlestar Galactica *Richard Hatch (who I think of first from The Streets of San Francisco), but then I thought, no, it must be the *Survivor *Richard Hatch.
I’m sorry to have been mistaken in my assumption. I wouldn’t have cared much about the tax-evader, but I was always a fan of the actor. For some reason I think of him and Randolph Mantooth as a set.
Pfui! Madame P. (and the rest our gang) met him a number of years back at a convention, and several times since. He always remembered her. (She’s kinda hard to overlook, or to forget.) We feel we’ve lost a friend.
I’ve asked for the title to be edited. Not being a watcher of “reality” TV, I was only vaguely aware that there was another, possibly better-known RH.
Yes, his performance in “Dead Man’s Curve” stuck with me much longer than his turn in the original BSG, and I could only admire his performance in the reboot, what with all the tumult that led to it. As Mahaloth put it, he managed to turn out a memorable, powerful character without a hint of bitterness, baggage or bullshit. (Although I think there were a couple of fanservice lines in there alluding faintly to the history… but only as winks.)
I remember him starring in a made-for-TV movie called “The Hustler of Muscle Beach”, where he was a con man with a heart of gold. Speaking of gold, the guy who played the mentally challenged body builder in the film went on to be an owner of Gold’s Gym
