Actors/Actresses who've done porn.

Paz Vega, the hottie from Spanglish has done a film called Sex and Lucia (its American title. It’s known as Lucía y el sexo in its native Mexican). In it, she gives a man a hand job in fairly explicit detail.

Very entertaining porn videos.

I doubt many people here will have heard of this, but it was the basis of a small controversy in Europe last year.

The German film Gegen die Wand (English title for US release: Head-On) is about a pair of Turkish immigrants trying to survive in Germany. The man is a self-destructive alcoholic; towards the beginning of the film he crashes his car and winds up in the hospital. While there, he meets a woman who’s recovering from a suicide attempt. She basically throws herself at him, because she needs a Turkish man to become her husband and keep her Turkish family happy, but she doesn’t like any of the men they’ve found for her. It’s a dark, gritty, uncompromising film, with stunning performances by the two leads, and it won all sorts of awards in Germany and elsewhere. (I saw it last year and can recommend it to world cinemaphiles with an interest in stories set in the seamy underbelly of modern life.)

Then it was discovered that the lead actress had a background in hardcore porn, so cue the squeals from predictably outraged moralists. Never mind that she had acquitted herself not just well but spectacularly well in the role; she was “tainted” by her past.

Aside from being a disgusting little lesson in social dynamics, as it’s a European film the story isn’t likely to show up on our American radar. Still, it fits the requirements of the OP, probably better than any examples one could find in the American industry.

As a huge fan of this movie (and its director, Julio Medem), I can say for certain that she does not “give a man a hand job in fairly explicit detail.” There is a maybe-three-second shot of an erection, and her wrapping her hand around it. Period. There’s a lot of skin in this movie, but absolutely nothing explicit.

Oh, and it’s Spanish, not Mexican.

But you did spell her name right, which means you earn special bonus points!

I remember back in the late 1980s, when the idiotic Judith Reisman was attacking Playboy for supposedly using photos of underage women, Reisman used DeBell’s 1976 cover photo as “evidence.” DeBell was apparently dressed up too girlishly and innocently for Reisman’s tastes.

Mistakes all around on my part. I haven’t seen the film, and was just relaying.

Tracy Lords is an interesting case. Since all but one of her videos were made when she was underage, they can’t be sold or shown today. It’s almost as if they never happened so she gets a pass that none of the other porn stars do.

Ginger Lynn Allen had has less luck making the transition, mostly performing in soft-core pictures and then going back to porn again.

Annette Haven appeared briefly in 10 and Body Double. Supposedly, De Palma seriously wanted her for the lead but her porn background proved to be a dealbreaker and she never came close to mainstream roles again.

Barbarella is not porn, and not even soft-core if the definition of that is lots of nudity. I just saw it again a few weeks ago. During the famed opening zero-gee strip-tease sequence - a tour de force for 1967 special effects on the cheap - Jane Fonda never so much as shows a nipple. It’s all sides and hints and intimations of full nudity but no naughty bits. It’s also one of the strongest female roles of its era, stemming from the European action female tradition that included the Avengers leads and Modesty Blaise. We got the Girl from UNCLE instead.

And sorry about Kristen/Kristine De Bell.

Bondage models quite commonly star in B-movies, everything from soft-core Skinamax to erotic thrillers (which includes a lot of non-softcore titles) to horror flicks. Many have shown up in mainstream TV and movies in bit parts. I won’t name any names, but two bondage models (one did hardcore films, too) wound up with successful careers as “Scream Queens.”

I won’t name any names because I’ve been informed that a lot of them fear stalkers – I also sujspect they fear loss of opportunity in mainstream films. One bondage model was a Jiggy Girl for a time on the Man Show, though I don’t know if that qualifies as non-porn work.

BTW, Chloe Sevigny is on record as giving Vincent Gallo a for-real blowjob in the film “Brown Bunny,” though I’m pretty sure the “for real” footage didn’t show in the final cut, and Jenna Jameson has made a number of non-hardcore appearances.

Gregg Araki’s film The Doom Generation includes appearances from several stars of gay porn, including Zak Spears and Rex Chandler (credited under the names Khristofor Rossianov and Paul D Fow, respectively). It looks to be Spears’ only non-porn acting credit but Chandler seems to have others.

Joanie Lawlor, aka Chyna, has a porn video out with her former boyfriend and fellow ex-wrestler, X-Pac.

There’s an ancient rumor that Joan Crawford did one or more “stag reels” back when she was Lucille LaSueur but AFAIK it’s never been substantiated.

Ryan Idol has done stage work as I think has Jeff Stryker. And, good heavens, checking IMDB it turns out Jeff has done voice dubbing for the Japanimation series Trigun.

Dirk Shafer, who was Playgirl’s Man of the Year in 1992, has written and directed a couple of movies, including Man of the Year which is based on his Playgirl experiences as a closeted and then openly gay man.

There isn’t an obituary in the world that won’t start off with something to the effect of “Tracy Lords, whose appearances in pornographic films while underage led to notoriety and mainstream success…”

Marilyn Chambers was the Ivory Snow girl before going into porn, and afterwards she also did a couple of mainstream films, including a fairly big part in David Cronenberg’s Rabid.

Her name is Traci Lords.

Paris Hilton

[QUOTE]

I may be recalling miscorrectly (I’m not about to google “Paris Hilton Sex Video,”)but didn’t she not know she was making a tape that would be viewed by the general public? So is it really fair to say that she “did porn” if she didn’t do so knowingly?

It did. Check any of the reviews or comments on IMDb.

It’s still not porn, just as none of the many other art house flicks mentioned in this thread that show sex are porn. Appearing nude isn’t porn; letting your boyfriend take pictures of the two of you having sex isn’t porn. Standards, people, standards!

And from IMBd:

Hard to go wrong there even if you’re copying from someone who is wrong, huh, Ethilrist?

You’re right, Otto, but she’ll still have had the real career denied to all the others.

One bit of trivia. Traci, billed as 24 years old but really 16, was the Penthouse Pet of the Month in the most infamous Penthouse of all time: the Vanessa Williams nude pictorial issue of 1984.

Sonny Landham, probably best known for playing characters named “Billy Bear” in “48 Hours” and “Predator” did some hardcore early in his career.

Former scream queen Michelle Bauer did some hardcore early on, also.

Assuming you’re talking about Red Shoe Diaries, the very first episode centered around Duchovny’s character, how he lost his woman (wife?), and why he placed the ad. He did do a sex scene or two in that episode.

And of course there’s Chuck Connors who did some gay porn in his pre Rifleman days.

Including mine?

… and your IMDB listing has how many entries? :dubious:
