Doesn’t have to be your favorite; just someone that makes you go “Huh? How odd.” Sometimes it might be someone you find so odd that you must find out more.
For me it’s Marlon Brando. What an oddity he is. I have his biography and his auto-biography (more memior than anything). One minute people are hailing him the greatest actor, the next they’re making fun of his weight (hmm…that’s more of a rant than anything else…). He goes on talk shows and mumbles odd things, rejects his Oscar, and is almost a recluse on his island in Tahiti. His eldest son killed his [Marlon] daughter’s boyfriend. His daughter commits suicide. And another son is a bodyguard for Michael Jackson. He has done such roles as the great Don Corleone in The Godfather, the brutish Stanley on A Streetcar Named Desire, and Superman’s father in Superman as well as a parody of himself in The Freshman. And after reading two books on him, I still don’t know what he’s all about!
