Actors that you can't get enough of

Not great actors, but my two favorites are Cary Grant & Myrna Loy. Separate or together…

Cary Grant, yes!

Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, and maybe Jean Harlow, if only to marvel at their amazing 30’s clothes/costumes/houses. Onscreen.

Check out his guest role on Brooklyn 99 as an arrogant murder suspect. He was also briefly very good as Black Panther’s uncle.

Funny you should mention that; I just saw a 1948 movie with that pair called ‘Mr Blandings Builds his Dream House’. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Heath Ledger when he was alive

Michael Caine. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything that he wasn’t perfect for, starting way back with Zulu.

Do-yeon Jeon

Somebody nominated Jennifer Tilly in the other thread.

I’m gonna nominate Meg Tilly in this one.

Toni Collette
Luis Guzman

Out of pure spite, I assume.

I’m having a hard time doing a limited list, but this is one of the first two that come to mind.

The other is Bradley Whitford. I mean, I was able to greatly enjoy The Good Guys alsmost solely because of this guy.

Which included Melvyn Douglas, another favorite in Hud, including Paul Newman, yet another.

Yeah, his work has really suffered since then.

Kathleen Byron, who was absolutely terrifying as Sister Ruth in Black Narcissus and totally sexy as the Recording Angel in A Matter of Life and Death.

Charles Laughton, in everything he ever did.

Lots of good choices here.

I’d add Jake Gyllenhaal and Frances McDormand.

Walter Huston, John Huston’s poppa. Cameo in The Maltese Falcon, brilliant as the old prospector in Treasure of the Sierra Madre, superb as the the Yankee Devil, Mr. Scratch, in The Devil and Dan’l Webster.

Why would you assume that? I sincerely find her quite appealing.

I’m not sure if Idris Elba is a great actor or just the personification of charisma. Or both. Or if it even matters. I just know he is compelling in everything he does.

Oh yeah, you guys are good. Add Elba and McDormand to my list.

I always put the remote down and watch at least a few minutes of any movie with John Goodman in it.

(Can’t say the same for his TV appearances.)
