Actors with the greatest age difference who played siblings

I recently watched two movies in which two actors played siblings despite a rather large age difference between them.

In Up in the Air, George Clooney and Melanie Lynskey play siblings despite their 16 year age difference. (Incidentally, I would have guessed the gap was more like 25 years based on their appearances. Shows what I know!)

But this was blown out of the water by Moonstruck, in which Danny Aiello and Nicolas Cage play brothers, even though Aiello is more than 30 years older!

So, Dopers, can you name other movies (or TV shows) in which two actors play siblings with a huge age difference?

Tom Hanks and his ‘brother’ in You’ve Got Mail. There was a real and ‘movie’ age difference between the kid that was supposed to be his half brother.

That’s 37 years. Impressive.

I think we should allow a special dispensation for half-brothers related through the father’s side. You could potentially have a half-sibling who was 80 years younger than you if your father had enough purple pills.

Do you mean a dispensation as in the sense of ‘a relaxation of the usual rules’, to allow half-brothers? Or were you by chance meaning that they should be excluded??

Isn’t it obvious that I used a word which meant the exact opposite of my intent?

What I meant to say is that half-siblings should be a separate category altogether.

How about 1956’s The Mountain which had Spencer Tracy and Robert Wagner as brothers? At the time, Tracy was 56 (and looked 70) and Wagner was 26 (and looked 19). I don’t remember if they were supposed to be half-brothers, however.

Actually, ‘the purple pill’ is Nexium, which is good for heartburn. However, Viagra is shaped more like a blue diamond, which makes it more like a Lucky Charm than anything.

I’m so full of wrong in this thread, it’s not even funny.

Oh well, I could care less.

Obligatory Sons of Katie Elder mention. There’s about 26 years between John Wayne and his youngest brother. That’s still less of a problem than believing he and Dean Martin are brothers…

How about Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffmann in Rain Man?

I’m too lazy to look up the age difference. Or look up if Hoffmann is with one or two n’s.

The actresses who played the Dashwood sisters in the 1995 version of “Sense & Sensibility” were 25 years apart.

Emma Thompson (1959) was 16 years older than Kate Winslet (1975) and ~25 years older than Emilie Francois (~1984).

Are the characters supposed to have a significant age difference (I haven’t seen Moonstruck)?

Should the Thread focus on:[ul]
[li]Movies where the script calls for siblings of significant age differences?[/li][li]Movies where one of the siblings is miscast and suspension of disbelief is tested because the age difference of the actors is unrealistic for the characters?[/li][li]OR[/li][li]Any examples of actors of significant age difference playing siblings?[/li][/ul]
