Actresses who age BADLY

“Ginger” (Tina-Louise) vs. “Mary Ann” (Dawn Welles) and I suppose “Lovey” (Natalie Schaeffer sp?). She aged so well her real age astonished many people.

I think Kathleen Turner and Goldie Hawn have aged well. As for Goldie’s lips, she had them deliberately fattened for that First Wives Club movie in order to look grotesque. (Hello, Melanie Griffith, get the point?)

Teri Garr suffers has a neuro-muscular disorder/disease (hmm, can’t find what it is on Google), so I think it is unfair to dis’ her. Some treatments might result in swelling/puffiness.

Most guys forgive her, inasmuch as SS has won the “Best Breasts in Hollywood” title for several years. (Who got to cast a vote, I have no clue. She obviously has had surgical enhancements.)

One word: CHER.

“…or the thing that is now known to be Cher.”

Jayne Mansfield, 1964.
Oh, man.

I noticed a couple of male actors who have really porked up lately, I’ll get back to you when I remember who they were.

I thought Dan Aykroyd was a cutie in the old SNL days, but he’s not aging well.

Pacino looks pretty bad.

Patty Duke is looking rough these days. She was cute in her TV show days. Of course she had it rough from the mid-60’s until the early 80’s when she diagnosed as manic-depressive and began getting proper medical treatment.

I was SO worried that the second one was going to be a picture of a body without a head…

Katherine Hepburn in Philadelphia Story in the early 1930s, and now. Oh my gosh, she looks like she has aged almost 70 years! She looks like she is in her 90s!

For the most part, you guys are nuts. People age, get over it. Unless they don’t and start wearing bad toupees.

Well, Bridgitte Bardot sort of looks… like she sunned herself like a bronze goddess… before people knew what it did to your skin.
It’s kind of sad.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Most people would look sooooo much better if they would just age allow themselves to age naturaly. All those face lifts, lip injection, eye jobs etc… make them look scary.
I also agree that a healthy weight looks better. Some older actresses (and non actresses) need to get a more age appropriate hairstyle.

Gotta call ya on that one. She has fabulous breasts, and the * reason *they are (were?) fabulous is because they are natural and * look * it, actually hanging in a manner that is normal for a large, fleshy human breast to do.

(I have some expertise in this area. )

Funny you should use this example, since I think Katherine is a stunning example of someone to whom age (and genes) have been extraordinarily kind. (Doesn’t hurt that she’s been slim and fit and active all her life, either). Yeah, she’s looking pretty bad lately, but she’s creeping up on a century. She looked gorgeous in her 50’s, beautiful in her 60’s, lovely in her 70’s and still pretty great in her 80’s.

We should start another thread for actors and actresses that have aged well.

My #1 candidate for that would be Audrey Hepburn. When I saw her as ‘Hap’ in ‘Always’, she looked like she was an attractive 40 years old, and she was 60 at the time.

Damn Stoid! I was being sarcastic! I notice most of my efforts at sarcasm on the SDMB are apparently missed (or not at all funny.)

We get older and balder, saggier, fatter and ornerier. Get over it everyone.

She still is getting them done. They are not as big as in “First Wives Club,” but they are still enhanced.

At least the third of those “celebs without makeup” sites is honest in as much as they admit that some of the fault is that they’re “bad photographs” and not merely celebs looking badly. But even the “bad night” photos, like those on the first two sites, aren’t just celebs without makeup, they’re celebs caught in candid, not posed shots. Their faces are distorted because they’re in the middle of eating, talking, (I swear one was sneezing) jogging and doing other things which tend to distort the face. Many were taken in harsh lighting, clearly none were taken with professional photo equipment. The photo of Christina Applegate on the first site has been obviously altered with graphics software, and the photo of Alicia Silverstone has to be at least five years old, not only because of her age, but because she’s been a vegan for about that long – no more ice cream for her.

What does this prove? That celebrities are human beings and when a photo is snapped at an inopportune moment, they can appear just as unattractive as any non-celeb would look if framed in that same activity. Sometimes, like other humans, their eyes are puffy and their skin is blotchy or they go out with their hair pulled back in a sloppy ponytail and their sweats on. There is no reason to expect that every time a “public figure” appears in public that they’re going to be coiffed and adorned like it’s a premiere or an awards show, and it’s really unfair for their private moments to be captured on film and presented this way. What’s the point of disparaging people for looking like people?

As long as we’re talking about women who age through weight loss, it’s worth pointing out that Calista Flockhart looks like she’s aged 15 years in the last eighteen months.

She looks about 50 to me, and an ugly 50. And she’s only 37.

Here’s another vote for: Teri Hatcher, Calista Flockhart, and Alicia Silverstone. I’m also gonna throw out Carry Fisher… Waaaay too much drug use.

I’m not sure Pamela Anderson’s pictures weren’t reversed. I swear she looks better in the no makeup picture than the one all painted up.

Sidenote: Barb Wire was on television today.
