Actual zombie ammo. They have a special on this week at our local bass pro.

http://www.hornady.com/ammunition/zombiemax

This is actual live ammo, for rifles and pistols. It has little green tips on it. IDK why the plastic tips are supposed to be so good for zombies. No explanation is given. The packaging looks like it would be very attractive to, say, 6 to 10-year-olds. Instructions say not to use it anything other than zombies. Site has video of guy shooting poorly made up “zombies”.

From the site:
Disclaimer: Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition is NOT a toy (IT IS LIVE AMMUNITION), but is intended only to be used on…ZOMBIES, also known as the living dead, undead, etc. No human being, plant, animal, vegetable or mineral should ever be shot with Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition. Again, we repeat, Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition is for use on ZOMBIES ONLY, and that’s not a nickname, phrase or cute way of referring to anybody, place or thing. When we say Zombies, we mean…ZOMBIES!

My apologies if this is a repost of this odd phenomenon. There are so many zombie posts, and no way that I can figure to sort out the ones that don’t say “zombie max”. At least, I tried the quotes around zombie max and zombie ammo and got nothing. I don’t know if that convention works on this search feature.

Dumb thing of the week, I guess.

Well, they market Zombi Hunting Permits, Zombi Hunter Tee Shirts and other assorted paraphernalia, so why not special ammunition? It’s not really special other than the green tips.

I’ll admit having bought some in two calibers as a keepsake.

Why not?

Yeah, I believe there was a thread on this earlier. It’s silly but no worse than marketing insurance with tasty and not-tasty beverages.

KA-BAR is in on it. Gerber too.

Meh.

I’m pretty sure it’s the same as Hornady’s Critical Defense, just with a different colored tip and casing and an interesting box. In any case, I’ve got CD and ZMax alternated in the magazine of my LCP. Just in case.

between Hornady & Ka-bar, is there something special with Zombies & neon green?

I think these would probably be more effective. I fired some out of my Judge a couple of weeks ago.

Anything close range is toast.

Posted about it here or there among the threads; love the ad.

I’ve tried the buckshot and the 9mm and its pretty good stuff. Packed some extra boxes aside for when the novelty wears off and it gets hard to find.
