I have ZoneAlarm Pro and AdAware. Never a problem.
I use both. There does not appear to be a conflict on my computer running windows 2000. As people have stated they really do different things.
I run Ad-Aware 6.0 and have had no problems at all with it. I also run Norton AntiVirus and Firewall.
Is it necessary also to have ZoneAlarm and SpyBot?
The only trouble I’ve had with Ad-Aware is that it causes a certain “Mesh” program I have to crash randomly.
Would http://www.spychecker.com/ be of any use (supposing it is working)?
ZoneAlarm is a firewall. AdAware is an adware and spyware remover. They do not overlap functionally, even though ZoneAlarm will prevent spyware programs from calling home. (AdAware will remove those programs, clearing up the problem the direct way.) You can run AdAware and ZoneAlarm on the same machine, and I suggest you do: Both programs provide a good service in an unobtrusive, user-friendly way. I run both on my Windows ME partition, and I have yet to have a problem with either.
AdAware is not an anti-virus program. It provides no protection against virii. You need Norton or something like that. Spyware is not the same as virii or trojans.
