KGS, at first I just thought you were crazy. Now I think you might just be playing with us. Would you care to explain a couple of things to me?

Yeah, my brother did call to tell me the thread had been closed, and you know what, I’m relieved. I was getting tired of defending myself from people who obviously did NOT get the point, although debates with a few people (esp. Joe Random) were actually leading somewhere. funny thing is, I didn’t see anywhere that I attacked a moderator in that thread. Yes, I referred to manny and pointed to this Pit but…am I missing a rule here?

I haven’t bothered reading the rest of the replies yet except to scan for the ones I don’t mind talking to, but I did wanna say to Coldfire: What is FUCK is up with all the people who LOVE Counterparts? About 90% of the people I talk to name that as one of their most favorite albums by Rush, and I think it SUCKS!!! Their second worst album ever, after HTF. I do like the first song “Animate”, but “Stick it Out” just annoys me, “Cut to the Chase” obviously was too unimpressive to remember what it sounds like, and “Nobody’s Hero” is not only terrible musically, but the lyrics annoy the piss out of me. (Yes, I am sensitive to AIDS patients, I had a dear friend who was diagnosed with AIDS and a few months later just VANISHED off the face of the Earth…not even his parents know where he went!) I don’t mind AIDS-related subjects, like the beautiful movie “Philadelphia” but I do NOT need to hear about it in a Rush song. (Unless it really IS about Freddie Mercury, which would change everything, obviously.)

“Between the Sun & the Moon” I must have skipped over the first time because, when they added that song to their last tour as a tribute to John Entwhistle (another tragic loss) I listened to the CD again, and that one surprised me because it’s pretty damn good. “Alien Shore” also sounded ok, and I started thinking, “Hmm, maybe I should give this stinking turd another chance.” But then “The Speed of Love” kicked in (ACK!! The word LOVE in a Rush song???) then “Double Agent” kicked in, followed by that sub-par instrumental, and…well, after that I turned it off, because I did NOT want to suffer through the next song “Cold Fire” which IMVHO is the WORST SONG EVER BY RUSH.

But hey, opinions differ. Indeed, it is clear that our esteemed moderator liked that song so much, he took it as his nick. And I know of FOUR other people who go by “Coldfire” on the 'Net. It’s fucking bizarre. I mean, I’ve heard of love-it-or-hate-it-albums before, but never one where the ratio is 499,999:1

I have thought that since the get go. His subsequent posts have done nothing but reinforce that notion. Just another attention whore. The more he posts, the less consistent his schitck gets.

Well, at least he is getting attention- although ridicule doesn’t seem to have been his target. Maybe he is going to settle for pity now. Either way, I ain’t buying it.

elf6c, is KGS even in school? At 30 or however old he is, I doubt it’s applicable. Do you think that all these trolling/attention whores are young enough to be in school? I admit, they’re are young trolls/attention whores(like Raisinbread), but kids going back to school isn’t going to solve the problem, just slow it down. Summertime is a time where everybody has more free time, not just the people in school.

BTW, I understand the attraction now…I just finished re-reading the classic “meltdowns” in SDMB history: peace, FreakyFreely, and Jeremy’s Evil Twin – dude, that last guy was scary, not just his obsession with killing children but the fact that “Jeremy” is one of MY favorite songs, too! Yikes!! (Does anyone know where he went? When the Beltway Sniper shootings started, I swear to God I thought of him…)

And does it count as a “meltdown” if the guy sticks around? I’m just checking in occasionally waiting for manny’s apology, or at the very least someone to explain IN WORDS OF ONE SYLLABLE OR LESS why he does not owe me one. After all, if I said to someone in GQ, “Dude, I think your ideas are stupid,” I’d be bitch-slapped by a mod right quick, or even banned. Remember most ages (among other things) are self reported- please take them with a big grain of salt.

And no, trolling/attention whores are not a age delimited catagory. There just seems to be a uptick in them during summer months and during school holidays. Our non-school age attention whores of course are not limited to these time periods, thus the tidal inflow of extra school age attention whores seem to join them during holidays and vacation periods and worsen the problem. Think of it like this, school in session = low tide. Still plenty of water, just lower levels of it. School’s out = high tide.

And sad to say, once school is finished, you do not get extra time in the summer (unless you live in one of those cool countries with the concept of “holiday month”). And most parents actually have less time, as their children are no longer in school full time.

As you know, young posters are not the problem- dimwitted attention whores are the problem (the clever ones tend not to cause as many problems).
