One presumes Pugsley and Wednesday killed and ate their younger siblings.
Yup.
Morticia & Gomez had a marriage we all could envy.
…or it might have something to do with their French interests…
Just adding my Addams vote. I so wanted to visit their house! Seemed like such fun. I actually wanted to live there.
I’ve never been able to sit through an episode of the Munsters.
You may already know this, but they say they ate at least one - not in the original series, but in one of the later incarnations.
It’s a particularly dark statement considering that their younger sibling saved the entire family in one of the movies.
Cool.
Addams Family for me too.
Someone in a previous thread said that the Addams Family believed that everyone else was like them (that is, weird). The Munsters, on the other hand, believed that they were like everyone else (that is, normal).
I thought I was the only one who didn’t think the 90s version was terrible. Yeah, not a patch on the original - and when they had a bad episode, it was TERRIBLE - but the series as a whole was entertaining. It’s major failing was an over-reliance on guest-stars - which was a real pity, as the core cast was pretty good when they had something to work with.
Although sometimes the guest stars worked, even when it was stunt casting - John Astin as Gomez’s father was a high point. (Obviously, Astin just reprised his Gomez performance, which pointed out the small ways in which Taranto’s was different.)
And, yeah, Addamses all the way - although I liked Munsters as a kid, they didn’t stand up as well.
And the funniest Western of all time, Evil Roy Slade.
I still have hopes of one day buying an enormous subwoofer and installing it over my front porch to reproduce the Addams Family foghorn “doorbell”.
I also loved Astin’s appearances on “Night Court” as Harry’s stepdad who spent some years in mental-health institutions.
“But I’m feeling much better now.”
Add Cousin Itt in the monster column, I remember a conversation Morticia had with Itt: (Paraphrasing, and with Cousin Itt, it is impossible )
Morticia: I needed your advice because like our father used to say, you have a good head on your shoulders… [Looks at Itt, around his head]
Uh, you… do have shoulders?.. Cousin Itt?
*
Itt:* #%^ssshliiip
Morticia: Three!!?!?!?
I use that line all the time, but no one ever catches the reference.
RR
I use it too. For me it’s appropriate!
Of course the Addams family wins. Was there ever any doubt? I’d like to say my family resembles them, but I’m not that lucky.
