Advice for flying with an infant

 what ever happened to good old decals?

I’ve flown with the kidlet since he was about four months old. What I did was pack a large tote bag with plenty of diapers, wipes, cream, snacks, books and toys, plus a travel-size pillow and blanket. I’d just pack my purse in the suitcase and stuff cash and ID in my pocket.

I’d definitely bring the Motrin along. You never know when you may need it. Fevers and pain can happen in the darndest places. Aaron once spiked a nasty fever between Baltimore and Houston.

Good point.

I’m actually packing everything in the diaper bag (including my laptop - I know it’s not a necessity, but I will probably want it if I’m in a hotel room alone after he goes to bed if everyone else is out at the bar. The diaper bag is big enough to hold it, thank goodness) - I am going to look for a smaller diaper bag at Babies R Us tonight that can double as a purse, so I can take both on the plane instead of carrying my purse (because I’m a klutz, and if I bend over with my purse on my arm and the baby in my arms, nine times out of ten, I manage to spill everything). The trick is finding a small diaper bag that doesn’t have Winnie-the-Pooh or the damn Baby Einsteins on it.

I don’t advise flying with a baby.

I advise flying with an airplane, as it is fast, & more comfortable.

Does that help?

Just wanted to post an update and say thanks for all of the advice. My kid was a serious ANGEL on the way down (he fell asleep instantly at takeoff for 45 minutes, didn’t cry or fuss one time during the entire flight, and flirted with everyone in sight - I had about five people right in front of us tell me that they had no idea he was even behind them), and was good on the way back (he was tired and cranky, so we had a few fussy moments, but they only lasted a second each time, and he still flirted and played throughout most of the flight). I was paranoid about his ears, but they didn’t bother him at all, so he was definitely over the ear infection.

The advice I got here was great - helped a lot! Thank you!
