Advice for the GRE?

So tomorrow at 12:00 I take the GRE for the first time. I’m not stressing about it too much, because I can take it again if necessary. I’m pretty solid on standardized tests, and I have been preparing by reading over some study guide books for the test.

Besides the whole “get a good night’s rest, eat breakfast, walk around the block to get the blood flowing” type stuff, are there any test-specific suggestions?

I’m taking the computerized version. At the very least, I have to beat my dad’s first-time score

So, any tips, suggestions, or just good vibes?

Thanks in advance!

Take time to do well on the first 10-15 questions because those have a greater effect on your score than the final questions. I can’t think of any more advice since you only have a day left so just try to relax. Good luck!

Don’t forget to bring two forms of photo id. They might have changed the rules, but when I took it, I needed two forms and seeing as I’m not one to carry my passport with me, they refused to let me take the test. Had to reschedule and pay again. But yeah, rest up and good luck.

Make sure you’re really sure about what they’re looking for on the writing sections, since (IMHO) it’s kind of a weird rubric, and I have friends who are great writers and didn’t do well on that part (I didn’t do too well on it either). If you write the kind of essay they’re looking for, you’ll do well.
