A friend’s best friend just died, and I’m assembling the funeral photo montage today. The musical choices on the DVD program are terrible, and I’m willing to take the risk associated with using copyrighted music on a DVD that is going to a dozen people for private use.
He was a big Rush fan.
I’m looking for a Rush instrumental bit about five minutes long that would work in this context. I’m only familiar with their biggest hits so I need suggestions. Thanks.
That might work very well. I found a guy covering it on acoustic, and it should be OK with the old folks (his parents are still alive) but it should bring a smile to the face of the Rush fans in the audience.
“YYZ” has a lot of energy, not a very reflective sounding piece of music.
“The Main Monkey Business” could be a contender. “La Villa Strangiato” might fit the mood a little better, even if it’s 10 minutes long (you could trim it). There’s not a lot of insturmental Rush tunes to chose from, but they do have a bunch of songs with long instrumental sections. Check out the “2112 Overture” or “Cygnus X-1” Even “Xanadu” has a good chunk of music before vocals start.
Good luck.
On preview, “Afterimage” is a great (if synthy) song.
I’ll listen to everyone’s suggestions, but at the moment JKellyMap’s suggestion of Broon’s Bane is the strongest contender. I’ve looped the acoustic and have it a perfect length for the images I’ve assembled. For his parents and reletives, it sounds like a pretty guitar bit - but I’m hoping that Rush fans will recognize it, and the video will bring a smile to a few faces during a very sad day.
