A few months ago, Apple (with US FDA approval) made it so that Airpods Pro can be used as over-the-counter hearing aids. Initial reviews seem promising (Apple AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Aids Expert Review), especially at their price point ($250 vs $1000+ for the prescription ones).
