We had DirecTV when I was a kid. It was really fun when we had the black market cards that unlocked everything including local broadcast stations all over the country. Of course high-speed internet and streaming makes all that seem rather quaint.
This is what we have too. We love it. It’s about a 1/3 of the price of our old cable. We have all of the channels that we had with cable plus more and it includes the regular network channels (except for ABC - I’m guessing it will be back shortly though). We also have an unlimited DVR. I couldn’t be happier. I haven’t been contacted by them in any way since I joined up.
While Directv Stream is considerably cheaper than cable I find it’s still no bargain compared to stuff like Netflix/HBOMax/Disney+ etc.
With local sports I think I’m paying about $118/mo and they just sent me notice that it’s going up another $8.
