… the merits of the ‘new posts’ link.
It seems to save me having to click on each forum one by one in the forum jump dropdown lookng for new replies.
(this is hell at work where ‘work’ is an hour of activity at the beginning and seven hours of babysitting a computer system)
It almost seems designed for me. (it returns posts/threads that the SDMB has no record of me having viewed)
Does this feature use the search, and in turn hinder the reliability of the board?
because I originally meant it to be a pitting of myself for taking so long to realize this and in my drunkness forgot to include in the post the bits I meant.
I’m certain it’s a search. If you click it, then hit the back button and click it again immediately, you get the admonishment for trying two searches in 30 seconds.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Some of the brightest people in, um, my underwear have only recently found out about the new posts link. I discovered it last week while tracking that post about Michael Moore that got everyone so riled up. You know, the one where people disagreed with each other?
Well if it’s any consolation (to the forum software) using it instead of using the forum jump to check the forums one by one meant I was using the sdmb a lot less.
The old way, by the time I got to ATMB I was wondering if anything new had appeared in the pit, so I’d go round again. with the new posts link I can see all at once and so go and find something else to do for [sad amount of] minutes.
