Immigration from the USA into Canada increased in 2004 by 25% when compared with 2003 (5,990 in 2003, and 7,493 in 2004). This was the greatest rate of increase of immigration from any country into Canada for that period. So the answer is a clear cut “yes”, Americans have been moving to Canada in significantly greater numbers.
Many of those immigrants must have been unusually prescient: Mr. Bush won re-election in November 2004, rather late to affect the 2004 numbers.
Perhaps it wasn’t the results of the election that caused that jump.
Perhaps the cause of this exodus is the runaway greenhouse effect.
