After Katrina

This came out of today’s paper and it’s not at all complete.

It’s summary from the Associated Press of the offers of aid from other countries.

Venezuela, humanitarian aid and fuel; their Citgo Petroleum Corp has pledge $1million
United Nations, the services of their disaster assistance and coordination teams
Israel, hundreds of doctors, nurses, techs and other experts in trauma, natural disasters & public health, as well as field hospitals, medical kits, and equipment for temporary housing, and reinforcement for hospitals
Russia, on Tuesday Putin said they will help if asked, but on Thursday a Russian official said FEMA had rejected its offer of rescue teams and other aid
Singapore, sending three Chinook helicopters with personnel from military exercises in Texas to LA in support of the Texas Natl Guard
Sri Lanka, sympathy and $25,000 via the American Red Cross
Germany, “all that is humanly possible” in a phone call to Condoleezza Rice
Others, More than 20 other countries and internation organizations have offered boats, aircraft, tents, blankets, generators, cash, and medical teams.

See above in this thread for some more.

So, lk1932, anything to say?
I don’t see whether the US has accepted any of these offers. Does anyone know?

CNN was just reporting that Fidel Castro has offered up an impressive amount of medicine and an equally impressive number of doctors; I don’t recall the numbers.

I’m not surprised, as Cuba knows all too well the devastation that hurricanes can bring.

Just an observation. lk1932 posted this and has posted anywhere else since. I think this was a nasty piece of Drive By Hate.

It is nice to see many nations beyond the nations we can always count on offering help.
