Again another terroist attack.....

I am so sick of hearing about this shit.

We’ve got people out there who WANT war and WELCOME death and SEEK destruction… what a bunch of sick puppies.

I try to stay hopeful, but I fear this will end up as WWIII. It will not be one country against another but this radical, rabid brand of “religion” against the world.

>sigh< :frowning:

And it will be destroyed.

It’s like this:

If I see a rabid dog walking down the street towards me, I feel sorry for the dog. Really I do. But I’ll still shoot it before it comes near enough to bite me. In self-defense, you understand. Because no matter how sorry I feel for that poor, sick, miserable, suffering animal… I will still defend myself.

These terrorists are rabid people.

Does anyone have any theories where the terrorists might have obtained this “Gremlin”? Could the Russians have left one or more behind in Afghanistan, and Al Queda got a hold of it? Was it bought or stolen from an ex-Soviet republic? Or is it more likely that it was obtained from some former Soviet satellite like Iraq or even N. Korea?

According to
globalsecurity.org the SA-14 (more properly known as the “9K34 Strela-3”, Strela translates as “arrow”, IIRC) was introduced in 1978, just in time to make it to Afganistan. I’m not sure, but some may have been sent to Angola or other African countries where proxy wars were underway at the time. I think they were exported to Cuba, as well as the Warsaw Pact countries. From there some probably made it into black market circulation.

A relevant article from janes.com.

In other words, Allah only knows where it came from. I’d say Iraq or Lebanon, or even from somewhere in Africa, maybe Somalia or Congo/Zaire or whatever its called now.

Of course, that’s all assuming the launcher reported to be shown on Kenyan TV by the BBC News website was actually the one found on the scene.

Say, what’s all this factual stuff doing in the Pit?

Lets not forget the many Wars in Africa where the USSR and USA were out to win hearts and minds with generous donations of weapons to defend either’s way of life.

Also The Cubans, with Soviet weapons fought in Angola and helped aid Ethiopian troops angainst Somolia in 1975. Chances are the weapons have been floating around from one group to another and not hard to come by.
