Age of Empires III - The Board Game

I was browsing through my local games store recently and discoered someone has made an Age of Empires III Board Game.

I loved the PC game, but from looking at the back of the box, the blurb seemed to suggest that the board game was a very different style of game to the PC version.

Before I go and plunk down $100+ (I think) on it I’d like to know if anyone has played, and what you thought of it?

I haven’t played it myself, but several of my friends really liked it. It is definitely more a eurogame (i.e. Settlers, Puerto Rico) than a wargame. I would suggest checking the game out on Boardgamegeek. There are several reviews and discussions of it there.
