Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D S01E19: The Only Light in the Darkness (open spoilers)

Phil’s such a superhero wannabe that he has to have a Secret ID…

And with the miracle which is Hollywood Casting, Amy Acker is young enough to be Clark Gregg’s daughter in Much Ado About Nothing, and old enough to be his girlfriend in SHIELD. Then again, in Branagh’s Much Ado, they were able to cast Denzel Washington and Keanu Reeves as brothers, so…

I’m kind of hoping that Skye’s statement that the encryption is location-based is bullshit, and she could have decrypted it any time she wanted to.

Department H has already been mentioned in AoS (End of the Beginning):

However, we have Ward’s statement that his parents were worse than his brother.

I am with you there. Although Koenig’s quick draw of his pistol while Ward was in the machine almost made me change my view … until he put the gun away and handed out another lanyard. :smack:

On the other hand, we also know Koenig was one of the very few agents who knew Fury was still alive, so …

It seems unlikely. She said this before she suspected Ward of being a Hydra agent. (I’m assuming if she had had any unspoken suspicions she wouldn’t have let Coulson fly off and leave her behind with Ward.)

I was a little surprised that the whole “satellite view” ended up no mattering at all. I thought the whole point of it was that they’d see Garrett and Ward entering the Fridge in contradiction to Ward’s story. And then it…went nowhere.

That’s what prompted Ward to murder Koenig. Plus, we don’t know what the remaining team will see when they get back inside- it’s possible they’ll follow the trail to what Sky was doing and pull up the feed.

Since Skye calmed down from her panic after noticing the changing-view “window” in the bathroom, and since she had just commented about having access to the satellite feeds, my assumption was that she’ll have jiggered the “window” displays to show the feed from the Fridge that reveals Ward + Garrett there.

That was my take as well - there’s proof on those tapes that Ward is HYDRA so he had to kill Koenig right then.

Niece, in Much Ado, actually, but yeah. Acker: 37, Gregg: 52. If he’d started early, she could be his daughter. But the man has a receding hairline, a grueling, thankless job, and a (flying) convertible. A girlfriend young enough to be his daughter (or niece) is part of the standard midlife crisis package, no?

Hey! Where’s my flying convertible???

We saw Koenig dripping blood. Earlier we saw Victoria Hand dripping blood and everybody kept asking is she could still be alive.

Same question about Koenig. Do we know for sure he’s dead?

It’s barely within the realm of possibility at this point but it was conceivable that Ward was a Shield mole penetrating Hydra. So there was a plausible reason to fake Hand’s killing in order to convince Garrett of his loyalty.

I don’t see any similar situation here. Who would Ward being trying to fool by faking Koenig’s death?

Coulson?

From what we’ve seen so far, if Koenig’s alive, it’s because Ward wants him alive.

Why would there be a scene of Ward, alone, cleaning his garrote if he had faked Koenig’s murder?

I don’t think Ward faking a kill on Koenig makes any sense. There’s a slim chance that Koenig survived the attack, I guess? Either Ward was rushed because he needed to get it done before Skye returned, or he’s got access to blue alien goo, or something like that. Doesn’t seem likely, though.
