Sorry, I know my rant isn’t as compelling as the endless waif argument.
You can also wank it that TAHITI only works at implanting knowledge by first erasing knowledge. That way it can erase and reprogram Cal, but wouldn’t be something that you could use to jump-start your agents with training.
I have no problem believe that a procedure that can rewrite memories can also implant skills.
I think SHIELD’s recruiting numbers would tank, however, if basic training included a procedure that makes people scream “Let me DIE! Let me DIE!!!” Not to mention the disapproving “tsk tsk”-ing from Ron Glass.
That occurred to me as well - couldn’t one give an 18 year-old the equivalent of a full medical degree?
Well, that wasn’t TAHITI alone, but the resurrection process that involved Kree blood.
“Let me DIE!” was specifically the brain rewriting part of the TAHITI procedure, as shown in the Coulson flashback scenes.
Cal’s not just a doctor - he’s a Mad! Comicbook! Scientist! That means, like a ‘lite’ version of Richards, Stark, Pym or Doom, he knows all the disciplines. Or all the bio ones, maybe.
I bet he’s also a bang-up tree surgeon. Science, Biatches.
No, “Let me DIE!” occurred during the brain rewriting process, but Phil was yelling it because he would rather have died than gone violently insane. He knew what the end result of being resurrected via Kree blood was, since he had been in charge of the project originally. The brain rewriting was an unsuccessful attempt to avoid that fate.
So, yeah. I really liked this episode and the previous. Also, just how many named characters did we see die on screen?
It was like 5 or 6. Whenever a show does this, it tells you they are serious about story arcing. Many of the 80s and 90s TV shows I remember watching never did this because then you could not watch episodes of that show out of order so easily because there is an ordering.
The special effects budget also felt pretty substantial.
This show is awesome.
Finally got a chance to watch these, it’s been killing me seeing this thread pop up and missing the discussion.
I loved May’s trick to get Ward to kill Agent 33. It worked flawlessly and seems actually clever, not just comic book clever. I just don’t see Ward as a leader; he’s a lone wolf or a hired henchman. He’s not loyal to anything, and can’t inspire loyalty to himself. I will admit I guessed the hand getting cut off right before it happened - Checkov’s fire axe caught my eye as well. I wished Mack, Couslon, and Fitz worked together better when fighting Gordon - it was random luck that got him killed, it should have been something more planned than that.
“We’re not evil, we’re misled.” They’ve decided that’s true for Cal as well.
Re. The fish oil. Surely its effects can be reversed by eating ground up sesame seeds. After all, tahini is a magical paste.
You…are on the list.
Yes, the list it is, for you.
You really floundered around to force that pun.
Hopefully, something bad doesn’t happen at the animal clinic. You know would happen.
Daisy flee with May to Cal haste.
JacobSwan, I don’t know why the others are acting like that was a falafel pun, I think it was tops!.
